With their debut having earned them more critical acclaim than a holocaust film, the album being named by FBi as ‘one of Australian top ten albums of the decade,’ being given five star reviews like they were canapes at a gallery opening as well as being named best live act by FBi listeners at Sydney’s Music Arts and Culture Awards (the SMACs), Seekae haven’t exactly had a tepid reception, and + Dome would have to be one of the most eagerly awaited local albums of 2011. The album itself which you can have a sneak peak at here in the form of a teaser or otherwise listen to their single Bloodbank here at their myspace, see the band further refining their beat driven electronica, retaining that same slightly hip hop swing to their songs and at the same time incorporating a wide variety of different sounds and textures including live instrumentation, 808 and other bass heavy synth sounds, and a huge library of samples. Having toured heavily in the last two years, playing alongside such acts as PVT, Broadcast, Decoder Ring, Cloud Control and Midnight Juggernauts, Seekae’s George Nicholas, John Hassell and Alex Cameron will be returning in support of +Dome with a new live show featuring synths, guitars, samplers and live drums, a prospect that has me very excited, especially after their more laptop based shows with PVT earlier this year. Suffice to say, +Dome is an album that is sure to occupy the attention of not only wankish media types like myself, but also the burgeoning fanbase of the band. With their show at Sydney’s Tone Nightclub last Thursday selling out, not to mention their many other sell out performances, I would be surprised to see a Harry Potter style mob event at the release of this record.
