They tick all the right boxes for the genre and bring out its punk and metal influences with riffs that wouldn't be out of place in a BFMV album and a punk-esque attitude that seeps through vocalist Marc Halls' screams. 'Watch Them Feed' displays this perfectly: catchy as hell, heavy enough to satisfy the metal masses, but with something resembling Billy Talent in the screaming sections. Fei Comodo have managed to take from the best and create a sound that, though not exactly unique, is at the top of their league. The album opens with the expected orchestral track that builds to the opening tearing vocals of single 'Break The Ice'. Halls' layered vocals work together beautifully over the cleverly-developed riffs and ridiculous drumming of Clemson. From then on, there are no real troughs or peaks; the album continues to deliver perfectly-executed melodies, dozens of hooks and general musical brilliance. 'They All Have Two Faces' proves that Fei Comodo can deliver softcore screamo catchiness to a hardcore beat (as can be heard in 'Just Another Day')- no easy feat. As I've been listening to this album, I've been trying to decide what rating to give it and though I can't fault it for what it is, I can't give it ten out of ten either. This is because, though it is no doubt one of the best of its genre to hit the scene so far this year, it doesn't interest me- there is nothing new to it. What Fei Comodo do do is incredible but what they could do is more interesting to me- they don't try anything new and that is the albums only downside. So, if you are okay with that and want a fantastically-talented screamo-by-numbers album, this is the CD for you, but if you're looking for something that pushes the boundaries you may be slightly disappointed.
