The album integrates Eastern elements into contemporary electronic music genres, including leftfield techno, IDM, and bass. Featuring works from seven producers based in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Hangzhou, this album embarks on a creative journey to reinterpret cultural memories and historical traces from a new perspective. The so-called "East" has, in fact, been an intrinsic part of European material civilization and culture—a constructed "other" that enabled Europe to establish its own identity. While this perspective is already a part of history, our focus lies in reinterpreting Eastern symbols within this context. Through thought and action, we reflect on the "imagined past" and the ideas and knowledge that constitute "modern civilization," considering what has been preserved and transformed before and after colonization. We aim to present these reflections through music as a more open and fluid language. Each track on the album seeks to construct a delicate balance: rooted in the foundations of Eastern culture yet imbued with new possibilities through modern musical technologies and emotional expression. This is a sonic exploration of dialogue between the East and the contemporary—a blend of personal interpretation and responses to collective memory.
