Progressively building up with a sweat and an energy to unleash a whirlwind of sensations that tighten the temples and hit you in the guts: twist after twist in a cocktail of styles that somehow fit together like a glove with shades of rap, dembow, soul and dub. A musical mélange of songs like “Maki”, “Naña Descoloniza tu Belleza”, “Poleo” and “Ko”, reminiscent at times of artists as diverse as Lauryn Hill, Chelsy and even Fela Kuti. While this could easily end in a disjointed collage of sounds and beats, in fact the pieces of the puzzle link perfectly to produce a mix at once electronic, syncopated and epic. Isleña possesses what critics used to call musical understanding, but pure instinct is probably a better term. Her vocals waver through a daring yet inherently natural mix of Mapuche and Spanish, an intercultural lexicon of phrases (or neologisms) that generate exciting new rhythms and magnetic songs packed within sightful verses that never attempt to sermonize or preach to the listener, but simply tell the truth. The result is a multi-layered sound that subverts both tradition and modernity in a way that might seem improvised, even reflective, yet brims with an infectious groove and spirit made for dancing. Since 2021, Isleña has been steadily perfecting the collection of material for “Ñaña”,her upcoming debut album (Everlasting, 2024).‘Ñaña’ is an affectionate term used by Mapuche women-equivalent to ‘Sister’. In fact, one of her earliest songs "Ñaña descolonizatu belleza" will be included among the tracks. Over a distinctive and original cocktail of reggaeton, jazz, hip-hop and carnival rhythms (the serious kind), it addresses themes of sexuality, decolonization and liberation for indigenous women. A joyous but meaningful record that highlights the contemporary Mapuche Huillice experience via the medium of music, while promoting a love of nature and an awareness and respect for her ancestral roots, delivering songs of female celebration with strong social and political overtones. Underneath it all, her music maintains elements of a true punk spirit-although perhaps we now need to exchange grainy black and white fanzines for Instagram, with an immediate impact that can also be stored on the Cloud

完全不是我会主动听的类型,但是居然从头到尾听完了。她唱我听不懂的语言,但是原始又热烈的音乐已经介绍了她的南美背景,跳出熟悉的流派听歌很有意思!
