This release comes in the form of an 8 track EP of electronically treated, Slavic folk tinged melancholy, and pseudo film soundtrack infused beauty of a most original sounding nature. Behind the twinkling and chiming echoes, the haunting dubby rhythms, and the nostalgic nursery rhymes of her native Russia shine through in the uplifting quiet drama that unfolds across these beautiful tracks. This release comes in two vinyl versions, in a total of only 100 copies. This is the listing for the 50 Deluxe, numbered copies that come in heavyweight, recycled kraftboard record jackets. On the front of each distressed jacket is an 8.5” square, archivally printed, double sided print with a moody and somewhat lo-fi hand manipulated photo of the artist herself. Each print has been fairly seriously handworked…burnt, ink spattered, colored with iodine, pastels, pencil etc. The reverse side features a Non Dolet poem, and the track titles have been hand typed on our trusty ancient old Underwood typewriter. Each print is loosely mounted with archival corner mounts, and is easily removable for perusal. The artists name is mounted beneath the photo, and is in the form of a raised embossed b/w label made with a... 1970’s handheld Dymo-Mite Tapewriter. The album title V is hand punched into the jacket just below this label. On the back of each record jacket is another evocative Non Dolet poem, printed double sided on fragile 50 year old ledger paper, in Russian on one side and English on the other. This poem is mounted with strips of antique medical tape. Over each of each of these is hinge mounted a vintage 8 x 10 negative transparency, each one different…sea shells, landscapes, decaying buildings, abstract patterns…and through each of these 50 unique, large negatives the Cyrillic poem is visible. The “standard” version, also in an edition of 50 copies, also comes in the heavyweight kraftboard jackets, with the double sided print on the front in a much less hand worked form. There is no extra poem or transparency on the back of these copies. Both versions of this release come with an 8 track, 12”, 45rpm “Milky Clear” record with beautifully printed labels. more
