The two albums are not just the fruit of our imagination and arduous experiment, but also the fortuitous outcome of certain opportunity. They bring us a lot of unexpected and pleasant surprises, and meanwhile open some secret passages for us. These passages make our dream of reinterpreting Chinese music and traditional Chinese instruments possible. Our journey has only just begun, but the future already unfolds before us. 拾音:我们把这次音乐上的概念称为拾音。这是西方录制或放大声音的技术手段。但这种手段产生了完全不同的两种概念,一种是还原人能清楚听到的声音,另一种是放大被人忽略的隐藏在清楚背后的声音。 Pickup: We call our recent music concept "Pickup". It's a Western technique of sound recording or amplifying, which has produced two entirely different ideas: one is to restore the sound clearly heard, the other, to amplify the overlooked sound in the background. 现代音乐是这两种概念的结合体。发现新的声音,新的声场,会产生完全不同的创作理念,继而会带给听众全新的听觉感受。拾音对我们而言,不仅是以上的意义,中国传统音乐,传统乐器,就世界而言,是长久被忽略的声音,被忽略的文化,拾起她,发现她的奥妙,不仅是个负责的事,其过程也非常的享受。 Modern music is a combination of both the two concepts. The discovery of new sounds and new sound fields will bring about totally different creative conceptions, and thus bringing the listeners a fresh sense of hearing. For us, "Pickup" is not confined to the above-mentioned meaning. Traditional Chinese music and traditional Chinese musical instruments, in the eyes of the world, are a voice and culture that have been neglected for too long. To pick them up and acknowledge their beauty is not only an obligation, also an enjoyable process. 归属:我们可以学习享用世界各地的各种文化科技成果,是一种幸福,但前提是,我们是否有自己文化的归属?如果没有,试想一下,繁华的都市,你是睡在路边墙角的乞讨者,你还能享用这种繁华带来的幸福吗?我们需要有自己的家,自己的归属,物质上如此,精神上也如此。拾音就是建设这个家园的砖和瓦。 Commitment: It's a boon that we can learn and enjoy varied cultural , scientific and technological achievements from all around the world, yet the premise is: do we have a sense of belonging in our culture? If not, just imagine yourself as a beggar sleeping in the streets of a booming city, can you still enjoy the boon brought by such prosperity? We need a sense of belonging, a home of our own, both materially and spiritually. Pickup is the bricks and tiles with which we construct the home. 认同:认同不是指简单意义上的承认,更不是狭隘的赞美或夸奖。认同是指平等的交流,沟通。音乐是最好的方式,因为她本身是一门独特的语言,而且体系成熟,传播方便。更重要的是选择自由,愿意或不愿意听,都随自己,不带任何的强迫性。导向虽然存在,但那只是流水的席,真正留存下来的,还是自然而且自由的选择。中国传统音乐有着非比寻常的价值,但她普遍来说孤芳自赏,学不会听懂别人,自然无法和其他的世界沟通,也就谈不上认同了。戏班所做的事,对于中国传统音乐界而言,可能会是一种扭曲,但对我们自己而言,与其撑着一根孤独的旗杆,不如把根扎在土里,长成枝繁叶茂的树,树干之上,扭曲的风景,耐人寻味。而土壤中的养料,来自于八方。 Identification: Identification is not mere acknowledgement, nor is it compliment or praise in the narrow sense. Identification is communication and interflow on an equal level. Music is the best way, for she is a unique language, with a mature system, easy to be spread. What's more important is its free choice: it totally depends on oneself to listen or not to. There is no compulsion involved. Orientation does exist, but that's always flowing, and what really remains in the end is still natural and free choice. Traditional Chinese music has an incomparable value, but generally she is alienated and narcissistic, not trying to learn to understand others, therefore fail to communicate with other worlds, not to mention identification. What Xiban'er is doing may seem a kind of warp to China's traditional music circle. But as far as we are concerned, we would rather strike root in the soil and grow into a lush tree than hold a lonely flagpole. Above the branches, the warped vista is really intriguing, and the nutrients in the soil come from all directions, far and wide. 《太平有象》带有强烈的摇滚色彩,是我们回首过去的思绪,是告别前的总结。《五石散》则是我们放下后的云游太虚,逍遙自在,随心所欲。 With a strong touch of rock, Peace and Prosperity is our reflection upon the past, a summary before saying goodbye. Powder of Five Minerals, on the other hand, is the carefree state when we let go and zone out, listen to our heart and give it free reign. 这两张概念全然不同的唱片让我们自己很享受,我们很忠诚的对待了自己的内心,整个的状态也是越发的松驰和自由。在制作上,由于客观上的限制,我们无法做到完全满意,但留一些追求给将来,也挺好。 感谢这个时代,感谢这个时代的中国,感谢这片复杂的土壤,是这些孕育了戏班的杂烩音乐。《太平有象》+《五十散》是我们接受的赠予,也是我们献上的礼物。 We really enjoy the two albums that contain entirely different ideas. We try to be honest to our hearts, which makes us more and more relaxed and free. In production, owing to limited conditions, we may not achieve complete satisfaction, but anyway, to leave some room for the future is not bad. 多年前戏班首专正好看了成都小酒馆的演出,二姐嘹亮嗓音助阵,首首明亮喧腾带着精神气儿,后来的专辑实验性太强,中听不好说,欠点儿浑然天成,二姐也走了,总觉得还是失了点儿拘束的魂。。
