QNC found worldwide fame as JVC Force, propelled into the limelight by the now classic track ‘Strong Island’. A relationship with Grand Central was forged through Rae & Christian and Aim collaborations, with the pair featuring on ‘Northern Sulphuric Soul’ and ‘Cold Water Music’.
The relationship firmly cemented, the pair went down a storm at Grand Central’s 10th birthday celebrations in Manchester and London where they presented a taster of what was to come on their first album for the label.
Strong beats and creative loops galore, the album was made to fill a void in the genre: "Being that the industry is seeing the departure of so many classic and skilled MCs, it is now in the hands of the dedicated few who choose to stay in it to forge some change in this profit-generated, poster-boy craft."
Each track has its own unique appeal, from the old school style of rap on ‘Hype, Fresh, Live’ (feat. Aim) to the sumptuous vocal contribution of chanteuse Kate Rogers on ‘I Wish’. Fans of Dubble D’s new album ‘????’ will also note the presence of ‘Would You’. "We sit down and make sure the integrity of the jam is there. We don’t want to shortchange DJs and fans", says Cazal. Qball adds his two pence. "We got real street trunk thumpers, up-tempo joints. You’re going to hear a well thought out production - every jam serves a purpose."
The album was recorded and mixed partially at the original legendary D&D Studios, NYC as well as at the new facility, dubbed ‘D&D Studios, East’ (operated by Curt Cazal).and all of the original acclaimed engineers remained as an integral part of the process. The result? A flawlessly produced 12-track album brimming with hip hop gems, from one of the genre’s most pioneering acts around.
