Tim Hardin 1 contains one of his most well-known and frequently covered songs, "Reason to Believe" — most notably a hit by Rod Stewart in 1971. Some of the songs were demos that ended up on the final release. Hardin was reportedly displeased with the string arrangements added after principal recording was completed.

Reason to believe is my favorite. Fortunately, I still can find myself and the ability to soothe myself by books or old songs. Coming from "Just Kids", Patti says Tim Hardin is what Robert likes.
