Among Sergey Prokofiev's oeuvres that still need to be discovered are his works of incidental music, composed during the 1930's in close co-operation with dramatic advisors and directors. After Capriccio already presented Prokofiev's "Hamlet" in the previous year (CAP 67058), this is now followed by "Egyptian Nights" based on the scenario by Alexander Tairov. The play is mainly based on Shakespeare's "Anthony and Cleopatra" and offers ample opportunity for Prokoviev to include impulsive drama, lyrical love scenes and Egyptian atmosphere. Comes with in-depth booklet complete with scene discriptions, full libretto and essays in English, German and French. Thus, Michail Jurowski continues his exploration of the "unknown Prokofiev".
