　　Sweden’s Molia Falls have had a tough history, from what I gather. Scoring an album deal from an American label back in 2002 while still in high school seems a very good start – but various problems and set-backs mean that 4 years later their total output is 12 songs spread across 3 EPs (not on said American label, I should point... 　　Sweden’s Molia Falls have had a tough history, from what I gather. Scoring an album deal from an American label back in 2002 while still in high school seems a very good start – but various problems and set-backs mean that 4 years later their total output is 12 songs spread across 3 EPs (not on said American label, I should point out). We Left Time is the latest of these and forms one third of this bands total output, though one band member did release an album in the mean time; their drummer is Motive Sounds’ electronica act Skoud.
　　
　　The music itself is well worth the long wait for things to get rolling though. A slightly quieter, yet generally more upbeat version of, say, Maserati - with its rolling drums under quirky guitar lines and the occasional foray into ambience - the only problem I have with this CD is its length. If I had often sat and thought "Gee, I’d like to listen to a Tristeza album but I only have 12 minutes to spare…" then this would have been a godsend. As it is, you find the music finishes and you’re left thinking that it wasn’t quite worth putting it on because you just sat down, started doing stuff, and now you have to get up and change it again.
　　
　　Another great thing about this band is that they are "interesting". Not interesting like, “They’re an instrumental post-rock band not following the classic quiet/loud scheme”, there are plenty of them, but interesting like, “They’re an instrumental post-rock band not following the classic quiet/loud scheme and they aren’t boring”. See, I like the bands I’ve said are similar to this, but I just couldn’t listen to their albums consistently, however there’s something about Molia Falls’ particular take on the style that is a touch more engaging than their peers. You put this on and it doesn’t immediately fade into background music that you'll ignore for an hour and a half until you notice it stopped twenty minutes ago. All in all, this band is doing something really great. So listen to them. Now.
