Hustlers Convention is an album recorded by Jalal Mansur Nuriddin under the pseudonym Lightnin' Rod. The album was a major influence on hip hop music and combined poetry, funk, jazz, and toasting. Hustlers Convention helped add a sociopolitical element to black music. The album narrates the story of two fictional hustlers, named Sport and Spoon.

i believe this is the prototype of old school rap. but notice that before this, there was Rudy Ray Moore telling the story of Dolemite in a similar approach. since Lightnin' Rod was a member of The La... i believe this is the prototype of old school rap. but notice that before this, there was Rudy Ray Moore telling the story of Dolemite in a similar approach. since Lightnin' Rod was a member of The Last Poets, i'd say it's less fun than his early works. it's neither improvisational nor flowing. and the music part ain't too impressive either.
