on the quitet street in the city
城內一條寂靜的街道上

a little old man walked alone
一位老人慢慢獨行

shuffing through the autumn afternoon
打發秋天無聊的午後

and the autumn leaves remiinded him
一地落葉 提醒他

another summer's come and gone
一個夏天來了　又走了

he had a long long midnight ahead waiting for June
在下一個六月來臨前還有無數孤獨夜要渡過

the among the leaves near an orphan's home
靠近孤兒院一地落葉中

a piece of paper caught his eyes
老人發現一張紙條　

and the stood to pick it up with trembling hands
他用顫抖的雙手揀起了紙條

and as he read the childish writing
當他讀著紙上稚嫩的筆跡時

the old man began to cry
淚水不禁掉了下來

use the words burnd inside him like a brand
因為那些話向火炬般地在他心中熊熊燃燒

'whoever finds this, I love you.
誰揀到這張紙條　我愛你　　　　　　

whoever finds this, I need you.
誰揀到這張紙條　我需要你

I even got no one to talk to
我甚至連個講話的人都沒有

so, whoever find this, I love you.'
所以　不管誰揀到這張紙條　我愛你

well, the old man's eyes searched the orphans home
於是　老人的雙眼搜索孤兒院

and came to rest upon a child
最後停在一個小女孩身上

with her nose pressed up against the window pane
小女孩的臉緊貼著玻璃

and the old man knew he found a friend at last
老人心裡想著：　我終於找到一位朋友

so he moved at her and smiled
於是　他含著笑向她揮手

and they both knew they spend the winter
兩人都知道　他們將會在笑聲和雨聲中

laughing at the rain,
渡過一個寒冷的冬天

and they did spend the winter laughing at the rain,
他們整個冬天在雨中歡笑

talking through the fence,
透過籬笆說話

exchanging little gifts they've made for each other,
他們彼此交換著雙手做的禮物

the old man would carve toys,
老人雕刻著玩具

and the litttle girl would draw pictures of beautiful ladies
小女孩則給他畫紙上的美女

and laughed a lot.
好多的歡笑他們是如此的喜悅

but then one day, on the first of June
直到一天　恰巧就是六月第一天　　　　　

the little run to the fence -- the old man wasn't there,
小女孩一如往常跑向牆邊

and, somehow she know
老人卻沒出現　剎那間她似乎知道　

he was never coming back,
老人不會再回來

so she went back to her little room,
於是她黯然回到小房間

took a crayan and wrote:
拿著蠟筆又開始寫著：

'whoever finds this, I love you.
誰揀到這張紙條　我愛你　

whoever finds this, I need you.
誰揀到這張紙條　我需要你

I even got no one to talk to
我連個講話的人都沒有

so, whoever find this, I love you.'
所以　不管誰揀到這張紙條　我愛你
