Honeymoon作为她成熟人格的分水岭,注定之后的作品会变得更加“氛围化”,但这种氛围化亦区别于80年代到90年代的new wave氛围乐,而是放缓到50年代--同名的摩托油门采样让我想到了girl group时期的“Leader Of The Pack”,Tomorrow Never Came则抹了一点the beatles的blues,列侬之子的加入则将整体往后20年的Plastic Ono Band靠拢。
除了风格上的成熟内敛,同时转变的还有她的作词。在唱惯了虐爱之后出乎意料的撒了“Young And In Love”的鸡汤,God Bless America - And All the Beautiful Women In It,When the World Was At War We Kept Dancing,则开始了对川普时代的探讨,立足Women's March,发出Trump era ends America的疑问,紧接着和Stevie Nicks的合作似乎在“Pretty When You Cry”“God Knows I Tried”的基础上更加升华了,像是Courtney Love’s “Doll Parts”,也像似“Mountains Beyond Mountains”,不过让我惊讶的是,Lana在soft rock老匠Stevie面前并不露怯,在与SEAN ONO LENNON 合作时也相得益彰。
The Beach Boys回应了“be my baby”,Lana则在love里面回应了“don’t worry baby”,同名回望好莱坞的黄金时代,补了一点Billy Joel的唇蜜,13 Beaches凄惨的弦乐下埋着Carnival of Souls,Lana从好莱坞走出寻找一块没有狗仔的海滩,直接作用在明确的数字上反而有种荒诞的黑色喜剧的戏剧性,Cherry随处可见的“fuck”“bitch”,Summer Bummer没事就钻出来的“what what what”像Skyline To的遗留,trap drums暗含了些Kanye的边角料,A$AP Rocky参脚的两首trap在专辑中表现破环了那种“黄金年代”的意境,在内容上补充了Lana对palm tree,beach,guitar“像在Brooklyn Baby之中的He plays guitar while I sing Lou Reed”,groupie的夏日素材美学构成。
Coachella - Woodstock In My Mind将专辑分成了华美trap的上半部和现实意味的下半部folk,Coachella是时下最流行的音乐节(trap),Woodstock则是指的69年的摇滚音乐节,“what about all these children/And what about all their parents?”时间/群体衔接比“I’m my mother's child”来的更意味深长,同时“I'd trade it all for a stairway to heaven (a stairway, stairway to heaven)/I'd take my time for the climb up to the top of it (a stairway)/I'd trade the fame and the fortune and the legend (a stairway)”也交代了后面对女性身份的认知表达,结构的严谨性在honeymoon之下,但文学意味上还可以多推敲推敲。
Get Free的“finally,I'm crossing the threshold”或许在某个层面有些M.I.A.的趣味性,就像God Bless America后面接的枪声神似“Paper Planes”,Get Free也是很难得快节奏副歌,表达change后的释怀,Neil Young式的Out of the black /Into the blue,总结了她避世情怀的诞生,或许丧仅只为cool,或者说,达到自己真正意味上的happiness,谁说一定是快乐的快乐才是真的快乐呢?
Love,Lust For Life或许很明显地说“happiness”,“My boyfriend's back and he's cooler than ever”“It don't matter because it's enough to be young and in love”,但情景上,“Beautiful People with Beautiful Problems”,“You said to meet me up there tomorrow/But tomorrow never came”的表达更显得具有凌虐的快感--which you know,Lana Del Rey-ish.
