乐评,从《Vovin》听见therion,上世纪最优秀的交响歌金专辑
自从96年《Theli》问世以来,Therion的风格开始从死亡金属向交响歌金转变。事实证明,这是一次完美的转型,众多粉丝及乐评人一致认为这张唱片是自Therion成立以来最值得一听的专辑。两年后,《Vovin》横空出世,交响、歌剧的成份更为浓重,完全舍弃了死金节奏的Therion,投入到交响歌金的怀抱。
不同于《Theli》,作为一张纯粹交响歌金专辑的《Vovin》已经无法嗅到死亡金属的味道。与前者相比,本作在曲调的力量上、节奏上削弱了不少,与此同时,音乐的唯美度、饱满度却提升了一个档次,乐章平衡度达到了前所未有的高度。专辑中,Therion大量运用了歌剧的唱腔,时而高亢时而低沉,时而刚毅时而柔弱,感情饱满的演绎让全长增加了梦幻的效果。唯美的女声让人留恋,加上专辑里令人津津乐道的“弦乐四重奏”,古典的风味一下子就展现了出来。
对于许多乐队来说,要做交响歌金既容易又困难。怎么说?容易在于,只要在原有金属基础上加上些古典的元素(如弦乐或者女高音之类),即可。困难在于,一个“度”的把握,古典成份的拿捏十分关键,如果过多了,就会失去原有金属乐的风味,少了,又不伦不类。
Therion在《Vovin》很好的诠释这个完美的融合。尽管整张专辑被弦乐与歌剧式的唱腔所包围,很有交响乐的味道,不过仔细听来,这绝对是张彻头彻尾的金属专辑,不容置疑。喧嚣的吉他与贝斯,强而有力的鼓声,与古典乐器的演奏相得益彰。《Vovin》将古典的柔美与金属的狂野很好的结合了起来。
曲目方面,说个开头,提个结尾。
开场曲“ The Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah” ,惊艳全场,浓重前卫金属的味道融合弦乐,激荡悠扬,如一部浩瀚的金属大片即将上映。
接近片尾的“The Draconian Trilogy”三部曲,专辑内最柔和的系列曲目,纯纯的古典氛围,悠扬唯美的弦乐,淡淡的吉他琴弦,拨动了每个听者的思念与幻想。
写在最后,Therion的成功很大程度要归功于Christofer Johnsson,作为乐队的灵魂人物,写词谱曲,居功至伟。他的存在造就了乐队在交响金属乐坛的旗帜形象,也正是因为他的存在,才使得乐队的转型如此顺利,从纯粹的死金华丽蜕变为融气势磅礴古典交响乐与重金属于一体的交响哥金。
