Enshine has been enshrined
Being the most anticipated album in 2015 (yes, there is no 'one of'), Singularity comes as expected in October. I've been playing it time to time since it was released and it grows in me each time I finish an entire loop.
I still remember the first time when I heard Origin. I was immediately drowned into the ethereal atmosphere that Enshine had created. After experiencing Origin, what I expect in new album is something vaster and grander such as tons of sound wall to esclate the "cosmic" atmosphere into a new level. To be honest, I am not that enthralled by Singularity when I finished my first listen simply because it was just following the same pattern as Origin.
However, you can still sense some differences between these two album. For instance, the using of keyboard to make such cosmic atmosphere in Enshine is less frequent than Origin. It only appears in "Astrarium, Pt. 2", which I think is better than "Astrarium". But it is still lackluster when compared with "Immersed", which is my favorite instrumental track by Enshine.
There are several gems in the album. My recommendations go to "In Our Mind", "Echoes" and "The Final Trance", among which my favorite track is "The Final Trance". The first half evolves slowly with great riffs in between and it stops in the middle, followed by some sparkling synths. The latter half then bursts out and here comes my favorite part: heavy sound wall. The song pattern is just the same as my favorite song in Origin - "Above Us"; and what more, they are both the penultimate song of the album respectively.
Therefore, my rating is 4.5, just to follow the same rating of Origin.
