Not For All The Tea in China, Not If I Could Sing Like a Bird...

When I first heard of this album, 2 things really scared me. 1.) The fact the albums has Love Songs, and 2.) The fact that it was 69 songs. I don't really like songs about Love since I feel like there are way too many and also don't like albums that make it feel like it's a part-time job to listen to.
After listening to 69 Love Songs, I can say I was wrong.
People who haven't heard this album, I'll give you a secret. The theme of the album isn't about Love. The album is about Love Songs. Think about that idea. Not Love but Love Songs. 2 very different ideas. The album does this perfectly.
Stephen Merrit, singer of many but writer of all 69 songs, is perfect in almost everyway he presents these songs. He does a good job in taking songs that are common in many different types of genres and making them unique and also creating his own sound in the process.
I honestly feel that this album is very misunderstood due to the fact that people think they are listening to Love Songs, but in reality should not pay attention to that but should pay attention to Merrit's Lyrical Genius in presenting these songs. This album is perfect and anyone who says differently needs to do themselves a favor and listen to it again.
Score: 100/100.
Notable Songs: Disk 1 - Absolutely Cuckoo, All My Little Words, Reno, Dakota, I Don't Wanna Get Over You, Come Back from San Francisco, The Luckiest Guy on the Lower East Side, I Think I Need a New Heart, The Book of Love, The One You Really Love, Boa Contstrictor, A Pretty Girl is Like... , and Nothing Matters When We're Dancing.
Disk 2 - When My Boy Walks Down the Street, Time Enough for Rocking When We're Rocking When We're Old, Grand Canyon, No One Will Ever Love You, If You Don't Cry, (Crazy For You) But Not That Crazy, My Only Friend, Promises of Eternity, World Love, Washington, DC, Long Forgotten Fairytale, Kiss Me Like You Mean It, Papa Was A Rodeo, Epitaph For My Heart and Abigail, Belle of Kilronan.
