这是一首可以唱到你心碎的情歌，也是不多的几首以资单曲循环的歌曲。最好的版本是onerepublic演奏的。旋律很纯粹，感情很真挚，声音很动人，一切都很完美。更完美的是歌词的绝妙。

这一首歌是描写女向男道歉，但是一切都已经无法挽回的故事。曲中男的心理状态可谓是一波三折，峰回路转，但是终究没有挽回的余地！
“I'm holding on your rope,Got me ten feet off the ground.I'm hearin what you say but I just can't make a sound”这几句给我们设置了一个基本的背景。“rope”这里的比喻含义相当丰富，有人译为希望，但是这显然不能表达那么丰富的含义。因为一方想要挽回一段感情的时候，依靠的东西很多，所以直接理解为“绳子”——女给男的一个挽回的余地更加准确。而这条绳子让男“Got me ten feet off the ground（离地十尺）”。这个十尺是个安全距离，一种感情不会死亡的安全距离。“I'm hearing what you say but I just can't make a sound（我能听见你的一切，但是却无法做出任何回应）”这一句对当时的行为做出一个最佳的描绘，也是最心痛的描绘。男能听见女所言的一切，但是却无法回应，这是为什么呢？这并不是不能，而是一种综合心理作用下的反应。男此刻或许正在纠结，如果只要稍微一心动，可能就不忍心分手了。但是男的无言却表明了他们的感情已经无法复原了。因为当感情无法继续时（无论什么原因），言语的交流会被毫无理由的自我阻碍，可能有人真的有这种感觉。想说什么，却什么也说不出。

“You tell me that you're sorry。Didn't think I'd turn around, and say... It's too late to apologize, it's too late”道歉真正的开始了，男内心也开始了动摇，动摇是不是应该在转身接受女的道歉，但是一切都太晚了，真的太晚了。这里所表达的男对女一直有着深入骨髓的感情，但是却真的无法挽回了。
“I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late。I'd take another chance, take a fall。Take a shot for you”。这里男将自己内心的想法对女直接说出了，真是的太晚了。如果说上文只是内心的活动的话，这里就是直接的行动和言语。但是男用情真的很深，以至于虽然说出来了，依然心里还在想着给女一个机会接受她的道歉。这才是最为精妙的描绘，这种辗转反侧的内心动摇正很好地描写出这段感情的细节。
“And I need you like a heart needs a beat。But it's nothin new。I loved you with a firing red- Now it'sturning blue, and you say...”这里的比喻很到位，“ I need you like a heart needs a beat”，女的存在对于男来说就像心脏永远需要跳动一般，否则就难以存活。“But it's nothin new”但是这种观念的根深蒂固已经到了不需要进行任何言语的声明。“I loved you with a firing red- Now it's turning blue, and you say..”男对女的爱首先是“loved you with a firing red-”就像烈火一般的浓烈。现在是turning blue，这里的blue并不容易理解。但是我觉得其依然纯粹，只是再也看不到了希望，所以用了一个文化观念上的blue。“and you say..”这时，男的耳际又响起了女道歉的声音。

“I'm holdin on your rope, got me ten feet off the ground...”这一句为整首歌画上了一个十分完满的句号，却让我们意犹未尽。因为男依然再回忆女给男的一切许诺，回忆，总之是一个不让爱情直接死亡的“十尺之地”。一个痴情但绝望却不得不回忆的男子永远的留在了我们的心间。
额外一个感受是：爱上谁与不爱上谁并没有孰对孰错，但是在感情中便肯定会有对错之分的。所以，如果你错了，不要 it's too late to apologize 。而且我更喜欢这首歌的MV，很纯粹，很心碎，但是很有感觉，欲罢不能的痛
