Ok, this album is officially "inspired by John Mayer"...
Ok, today I looked at the cover of the album carefully, and here's the most successful John Mayer live album: http://music.douban.com/subject/3128124/
Haha, they REALLY look alike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So it proves my point-- Khalil is never trying to hide that he's learning from Mayer.
Someone mentioned "identity crisis" in the discussion group, and I think he/she is right. IDENTITY CRISIS. Khalil is trying to deal with it positively, which is respectable.
(These are the things I wrote yesterday)
Heart of Life (/Stop This Train)。
希望以后听者形容他时,别再用到"this is pure copying"之类的句子,而是说,"this is pure Khalil!!!"

An article said "don't judge the music by your own taste," well, I respectfully DISAGREE.
People SHOULD and CAN ONLY judge the music by their own taste!
Music preference is an aesthetic thing, different people are supposed to feel different towards the same music. Otherwise, how is ONE album enough for MILLIONS of fans out there?
And the ARRANGEMENT thing I mentioned above, it's not just a "feeling", it's a FACT--the details in arrangement, including chord progression, rhythm, choice of instruments, set the style of music. It's technicality.
You just can't deny that Khalil is doing a bit too much John Mayer in this album, because THE TECHNICALITIES ARE REALLY SIMILAR.
I'm a big fan of both (well, especially Mayer...), but I'm not trying to bash anyone here. I think Khalil did pretty amazing so far due to the fact that he didn't went to a professional music school like Mayer did; he did this all by himself. Just hope he keeps getting better.
