宇宙之音
Puffin on my Side is an Italian one-man-project. Influenced by Post-Rock-archetypes like Mogwai, Sigur Rós or Godspeed You! Black Emperor plays Puffin, which is the pseudonym of the founder of this project, a kind of ambiental Post-Rock. Electronic elements and synth-drums accompany the sound, the reverberant guitar-tones abduct you in tender midnightdreams in which you move through empty spaces in a floating way and in which you can forget the world under your feet.
The insider EP could almost not be more atmospheric. Puffin on my side is able to mix ambient-sounds and shoegaze-guitars as fluently as it sounds the most naturally as possible. Therefor he uses beside the above mentioned style-elements also synthesizers and field recordings, spoken words and electronica in the range of drone/noise sound.
The songs on insider do often have a similar chronological development, in which the sound gets more intensive at the end of the song, there is no attention on classical schemata though. The drumcomputer is used rarely and it doesn’t bother the atmosphere of insider or sounds unfitting.
Conclusion: Insider is a harmonius album with a constant atmosphere, which is actually able to entrain the listener and take him out of his daily stress. Puffin on my side is, of course, not YET a well known artist in this genre, but has a very own sound and causes dreaming. Thumbs up for this album, we are looking forward to hearing more from it and for the meantime, let’s listen to insider again and again.
