分析：Dema 故事当中，Josh Dun 扮演的角色 Torchbearer 是谁？
《Clancy》是 twenty one pilots 乐团 Dema 故事的最终章节，而 Torchbearer 是 Dema 故事当中一个关键角色，在 MV 当中他由 Josh Dun 扮演。
Torchbearer 在哪些 MV 当中出现？
他早在《HeavyDirtySoul》的 MV 就有出现，他在路中央打鼓，随之由 Nico/Blurryface 掌舵的汽车崩解，Joseph 的角色得以解脱控制、重获自由。
这一情节引申到《Trench》MV 三部曲（即《Jumpsuit》、《Nico And The Niners》），其中 Dun 扮演的 Torchbearer 角色在山顶撒出黄色花瓣扰乱 Nico 主教捉拿 Clancy 的计划，从象征精神困境的 Dema 城拯救 Clancy，但 Clancy 最后在篝火旁再次被捕捉。
到了《Scaled And Icy》时代，Torchbearer 也在三支 MV 中露面，在 Clancy 的邮轮表演中击鼓，随后邮轮失事后，在 voldsøy（暴力岛）上引领 Clancy 找到 Ned 所处的洞穴，使他获得 Ned 头顶鹿角所赋予的念力。
《Clancy》时期 Torchbearer 应该也会在三支 MV 当中出现（《Overcompensate》、《Navigating》和《Paladin Strait》），前两支 MV 我们看到 Torchbearer 出现在 Dema 城被 Clancy 用念力控制的无名身躯旁，教育和招募 Dema 城居民，同时又出现在与 Clancy 一同乘船穿越 Paladin Strait（圣骑士海峡）到达 Trench 大陆 – Torchbearer 随后引领 Clancy 加入 Banditos（匪帮团）的行动，MV 最后出现绿色服装 + 黄胶带的匪帮团装扮的 Torchbearer – 这一装扮上一次出现是在《Trench》时期。Clancy 身旁出来的 Torchbearer 随之化为乌有，意味这《Scaled And Icy》时期一直到这里为止陪伴在 Clancy 身边的 Torchbearer 并非实际存在，而是 Clancy 的想象。
Torchbearer 的名字在哪里出现？
Torchbearer 的形象虽然很早出现，但是他的名字第一次出现是在022 03MOON 17 的 Clancy 日记当中，这篇日记描述了主角短暂获得自由后在直播演唱会以及游轮上为“annual assemblage of the Glorified”做演出，以及之后主角流落到 voldsøy 这个小岛的故事。
在写到在船上入场表演时，Clancy 说他要快点入场，为了跟上火炬手，
“I knew those weren’t the real bishops on that ship. I’ll quicken the entry – I need to keep up with The Torchbearer.”
后一篇于18 日发表的日记谈到了得到念力以后重返大陆、被匪帮团（Banditos）迎接的计划。Clancy 写道，虽然 Torchbearer 很久没有跟匪帮团说话，他希望他们没有对 Torchbearer 的计划丧失信心。
“now, we must return to the mainland where they should be there to receive us. We will destroy and rebuild. Though it’s been years since he last spoke with them, I hope they have not lost faith in The Torchbearer’s plan.”
Ned 的圣诞直播画面也出现了一封写给 Ned 的信，当中提到了某人看到“Clancy 和 Torchbearer 在一块”。
Torchbearer 角色的意涵是什么？
Torchbearer 在故事当中的意义是什么？在《Clancy》录影带直播当中，Tyler Joseph 这样解释 Torchbearer 的形态和作用，
“He (the Torchbearer) has the ability to guide, so that’s why there is kind of like a triangular existence of him. But I will say, to clear it up, the Bandito Torchbearer is the real one.”
即 Torchbearer 的作用是“引领”，他在故事当中有多种存在的形态（即实体的匪帮装扮的，和虚幻的、仅存在 Clancy 头脑当中的），而 Bandito 装扮的 Torchbearer 是真实存在的（《Trench》三部曲中的 Torchbearer）。而非实体存在、又具有引领作用的形象，就很容易让人想到神，特别是乐队本身就受到宗教的强烈影响。
关于 Torchbearer 是否真实存在的讨论在 3 月份开始就在 Reddit 上有很多讨论[1] [2] [3]，其中Rodaspi用户把这个猜想叫做“The Forest Theory”，而Apprehensive-Row-694认为 Torchbearer 代表了守护天使的角色 – 他一直与 Clancy 的角色同在，帮助他、让他不感到孤单，即使这一角色很少和他互动。这个用户认为，最简单的层面上，这一角色代表了困于精神疾患的人并不孤单 – 他们的痛苦可以被其他人理解并得到别人的支持；进一步说，这个角色也可以代表神一直与你同在。她说，
It’s a beautiful metaphor in so many ways. In the simplest of ways, it’s the idea that we who struggle with mental health issues feel they’re alone in their feelings. That no one could possibly understand. But that’s not true. No matter how bad it gets, we are never truly alone and we need to realize that and accept the help/support. It also works on the Spiritual level. God is always with you, working to help you see and free you from your burdens, even before you know who He is.
这个故事接下来会往哪里发展呢？Twitter 用户@_paladin_strait认为《Navigating》当中真实的 Torchbearer 和 Clancy 重逢时双方表情很严肃，可能代表 Torchbearer 因为 Clancy 滥用念力来夺取 Dema 城“光荣逝者”的身躯、用作己用而不满。也许在“六月初”放出的《Paladin Strait》MV 当中我们会看到两个人如何处理这种矛盾。
