"It's like the human condition, I feel like humans always want to polish things up.And they want to make things perfect.It's like they see something from the past and they're like, oh well, let's take this and make it our own and file out the edges a little bit to make it more round.The heart of country music is pure and genuine, it comes from a place of the working class people like traditionally.They're talking about the hard times that they've went through and the hard times they've still going through but they smile about it, joke about it and make a show of it.Today it's more about being a thorough bread and you look good, you sound pretty good, you're dancing around but it's missing a core ingredient sometimes, I feel like it's missing that raw genuiness, it's more LA i guess."

Sierra的音乐给我的感觉一直是很真诚，并不是侧重文本故事方面，而是她的声音，她的乐器编排。每一个音符的使用，都是很用心的想让人记住这首歌，想让人起鸡皮疙瘩。fiddle是她最喜欢的乐器，也是她音乐里浓墨重彩的一笔，总是能给我一种很饱满，情感充沛的感觉，随性又有些妖娆。她自述最开始来纳什维尔的契机是想逃离一段非常糟糕的分手经历，也难怪她这两专有这么多爱而不得的故事，可见这段关系对她来说真的刻骨铭心，甚至将她的心上人和第三者Rosemary一起谋杀。但Rosemary这首歌的故事是虚构，她说创作灵感是她吃一种叫Rosemary的食物非常喜欢，所以决定一定要写一首关于它的歌，这样的创作故事属实可爱。

最触动我情绪的是"Wish You Well"这首歌，中段的小提琴直逼灵魂深处。最接近上张专辑风格的是"Why Haven't You Loved Me Yet"这首歌，这样哥特式地，爵士地乡村歌曲，非常独特也非常精美。"I'm a country artist with a jazz mind."她这样自述到，她和Stacy Antonel一起，开辟了乡村乐+爵士乐这条独一无二的赛道。

但相比上张专辑，这专在内容取材以及表达形式上，还是拓展了相当多的。除了"Rosemary"的谋杀故事(虽然这首和"I'll Come Off The Mountain"都是老歌翻新)，"Fox Hunt"的捕猎山歌，"Dollar Bill Bar"里绿色币面的意象，受伤多次的比喻，还有那首粉肠做菜歌。"Lighthouse"和之前提到的"Why Haven't You Loved Me Yet"多了很好的男生和声，前者的乐器演奏是这张专辑里我觉得最好的，给人追逐光明并找到希望的感觉，最后一段阿卡贝拉演出在乡村里绝无仅有，也是这张专辑最大的亮点之一。

最值得单独拿出来说的是"American Dreaming"这首歌，四段主歌歌词的背后，是她居无定所，riding trains随着火车过着漂泊生活，期间因为drug abuse等原因濒死多次。她在采访中也生动地描述了生命走马灯的感觉，听着很是震撼。

"Music is a mantra, It is important to know that what we are saying and thinking does have effects on ourselves and in America we have this condition to be in love with our sadness."
