《灵魂的暗夜》（La noche oscura del alma）是16世纪西班牙神父和诗人圣十字若望（St. John of the Cross）写的一首诗。Loreena McKennitt把这首诗改编成了歌曲。

这里面看起来像性暗示的东西大概是一种神秘主义传统，我也不是很懂，反正听就是了。

我确实想针对歌词多发表一些议论，但这种和宗教相关的话题无论在知乎上还是豆瓣上都很难过审，我赌1毛钱，待会这篇乐评又要“疑似违反社区规范”了。

好像有一本叫《灵魂的暗夜》的书，讲的是心灵危机和应对方法什么的。然而，在这首歌里，“dark night”似乎并不是急需摆脱的泥潭，而是通向神的必经之路，因此这夜也显得甜美起来。

在Verse 1里，叙述者仿佛离开了自己的肉体（“I fled my house”），感官也被封闭（“Shrouded by the night”“The veil concealed my eyes”），然后，心灵就义无反顾地投入了暗夜中。

Verse 2里的这句话引起了我的注意：“it was a place where no one else could come”。之前看维基的时候，里面说，基督教的神秘主义的根源是，信仰是一种per se（拉丁语：切身）的体验。我觉得这个词看起来很高端，所以决定把它记在生词本里。

然而在Verse 3和4里，肉体又出现了，而且还不止一个人的：“the wind would brush his hair against his brow”；“laid my face upon my lovers breast”。说实话，这我暂时还理解不了。

所以先留待以后思考好了。
