(R=rufus,B=greek boy)
R: You who were born with the sun above your shoulders
You turn me on you turn me on
You have to know
B: You who were born where the sun she keeps her distance
You turn me on you turn me on
But so does she
R: You who were born there where beauty is existence
You turn me on you turn me
Your body heals my soul
B: You who were born where you shiver and you shudder
You turn me on the girl is gone so come on
Let’s go
born with the sun above your shoulders其实就是暗指男孩出生的地方是个热带的地方(希腊是在地中海那边的),而希腊是很多艺术作品诞生的地方,所以说那里是where beauty is existence。born where the sun she keeps her distance和 born where you shiver and you shudder暗指rufus是出生在寒带的地方(他是加利福尼亚那边的),shiver和shudder是颤抖的意思。
R: All the pearls of China
Fade astride of Volta
Don’t sew beelines to anybody’s hide
Save your poison for a lover who is on your side
All the pearls of China fade。
R: One way is Rome and the other way is Mecca
On either side on either side
Of our motorbike
B: One way is home and the other way is papa
On either side on either side and
Prepared to strike
R: When I get back I will dream in Barnes and Noble's
Oh leave me here oh leave me where angels fear to tread
B: When I get back I will bleed after my beating
Don’t leave me here don’t leave me here
I’m scared to death
"This song is about an American guy and a Greek guy, and they go off into the bushes together, and then the American guy goes back to America and hangs out at Barnes & Noble a lot, and the Greek guy gets beaten up." He pauses for the laugh. "I'd rather be beaten up, frankly."
