First, I must tell that the reason of this low rating doesn't have much with the pace of the guitars solos. I'm not one of those Gandhi type metal elitists that always talk same, "you have nothing but speed" or "this is masturbation". Oh, OK, I don't disagree you, but this is how actually guitar albums work. The purpose of a guitar album must be melting the shit! We all like music like Boris at Last -Feedbacker- but come on guys, this is a guitar album! I guess I will start talking about Satriani's music. Satriani melts nothing. True. To melt something, you must have fire. And for fire, you must have two stones, or a match and a box, or Zippos and fuel. It doesn't matter but you need two things at least. Satriani doesn't have one. As you can all guess it is the RIFFS. OK, so much thing missing, it sucks but please put a single riff that matters. Another thing is the drums. It's pretty ironic. You are playing billions of notes but you can't put a single drum beat that is not hi-hat snare only. And there are the melodies. Power Rangers meets Ghost Busters meets Ninja Turtles, what the fuck I've just vomited on the screen. Obviously he watches cartoons too much. Another thing I can't stand are the ballads. I have heard Bruno Mars ballads better then this. I think I'm dissing too much. But he shreds lovely isn't he. And there is the famous Yngwie Malmsteen-Joe Satriani comparison makes me sick. Satriani is always pointed to be the best guitarist ever and even he knows he is way far from there. I see him saying "I can hardly play things that Vai and Malmsteen play in G3." which actually means "Malmsteen and Vai slaps me so hard when it comes to technique." It's a truth that Satriani is not actually that good with his technique, and I can clearly see it from this album. He uses the most boring tapping technique that even Abbath from Immortal (so much respect) doesn't give a single fuck about. But, most people with that philosophic Buddhist approach to metal will say that Malmsteen sucks completely and Satriani is a good guitarist. I have friends that never heard a Malmsteen album and talk about him like he is a failure guitarist that just tries to reach light-speed. He is a RYMer and he sadly knows some shit, and worst of all he likes Satriani. Can anyone tell me what has Satriani done that Malmsteen hadn't. AOR metal, TMNT shredding? Malmsteen was the founder of power metal and neo-classical metal, and he was the one concentrated on creating music (RIFFS) rather than wankery (see the 2nd and 3rd albums of Malmsteen?). I can't blame someone for being overrated. I'm just blaming elitists and more than them I'm blaming the ones who don't know a single thing and thrust them as it was written in the book. They are just sheeps. Elitist who I respect have their points, and those sheeps just don't, so I will never respect their thoughts. They must shut up, listen and talk when they know a shit. Bad and overrated album. Malmsteen kicks ass. Satriani is quite cool. I hate sheeps. Satriani looks like a ninja turtle.
