a ten-year memory

One evening in 1996, I was watching TV at home. When changing the channels to find something interesting to watch, a love song caught all my attention. That is Anywhere for You, sung by Backstreet Boys. From then on, I keep my eyes on them till now.
Ten years passed, now I am no longer a little girl that would screamed my idol’ s name out, but a women like to sit down to listen. The band also has a great change, from active boys to mature men. Nick is stronger, Kevin and Howie have more bear, Brian is a father of a girl and A.J has his own style of music. Everything is changing and going forwards.
Till now, I still listen to Anywhere for You and I’ll never break your heart often. I would feel happy when hearing the melody of I Want It That Way. I want to dance once the bits of Larger than Life begin. It is a little out of expectation that I will keep interest in a band for such a long time. How many ten years a person can have? At least 7. That means I contribute my one seventh of my attention on them in my life.
Why I would be like this? It is not an easy question. Ten years ago, the main music I could get was mainly from HK. The music was dull and standard. Melodies were simple and were easy to be remembered and sung. Therefore when I first approached the style of EU&US, I was surprised and excited. Of course I admitted I was a bit crazy for their appearance. At that time, people were curious about foreigners, so did I. actually; their style attracted not only the one in Asia, but in EU&US. Gradually, I fell in love in this kind of melody and edition. It was a fashion then to listen to foreign songs.
They keep their style steadily, nothing special changed. From Backstreet’ back to Never Gone, the feeling of each nearly the same, only becoming more mature than before. I still like their voices combing together. One is sharp, one is low. One is thick, one is wide. All these factors get together, the great surprise comes out. How amazing.
Now is Dec, 9th 2006, ten years later, I am listening to their old songs again. All the melodies remind me of the memory of the former years. I still remembered excitement when I found someone was also the fan of BSB. I still remembered the happy moments when we talked about them……..lost in the memory…….
This is the task I set for myself a long time ago. I promised myself I should write an essay for BSB as a memorization of one of my ten-year. I did, but not satisfy. I had planned to list all the albums of them and gave some comments and explanation, but I found that would be a great job. What’s more there was no need to do it, because I just take it as a memory, not an instruction.
