Singer and songwriter Ben Barnett is the base of Kind of Like Spitting and such a talented, prolific individual that, while he may not have the best luck, he certainly manages to create some of the most overwhelmingly powerful songs of love and torture imaginable - again and again and again. He seems to write songs in the way that one breathes - consistently, constantly, and as a necessity - pouring albums from his mouth, head and hands multiple times a year, each one as essential and moving as the next. Barnett's songs can rotate between somber, solemn solo pieces and explosive, full-band rock. Amongst all the styles handled by Kind of Like Spitting, though, lie a solid punk ethic and the ability for immense lyrical depth. Within the last couple years, Barnett has uncharacteristically stored his songs, allowing them to gradually gestate, change and move into each other until two full albums beautifully came together: In the Red (released by HUSH Records) and The Thrill of the Hunt.
