_Comments on new studio album of Mogwai, "Hardcore will never die, you will"
Undoubtedly, Mogwai is one of the most shocking experimental/instrumental rock bands till their first studio album, "Mogwai young team". For a very long time, they were known for their heavy use of distortions and effects. Unlike other most famous Indie/Folk bands in Scotland, Mogwai is quite different from the Scottish traditions, just like the leader of the band, stuart braithwaite, once said, "I think a lot of people make 'art-rock' but forget to actually rock... they're too busy 'arting'. we're a rock'n'roll band that avoids cliches. we don't have choruses. art forms have to progress." It is a definite destruction of the order that constructed by Pink Floyd, albeit this kind of movement had been initiated by the pioneers of Mogwai such as Sonic Youth, Slint, Joy Division and so on.
However, no one lives for ever, on one be young for ever. When youths became uncles, when time flowed through every corpse, when there is only bare ruined choirs with no lating sweet birds, at this time, is the thing we were insisting on keeping still?
Maybe yes, maybe no, whatever the answer is, Mogwai now gives us a new exiting production. Albeit now we can not hear the distorted sounds like that in "Come on die youth", precisely said, till 2001's "Rock Action" we could not hear that kind of things, I sill think uncles of Mogwai sent us delitescent berserk under their now safe and circumambient turning sounds, in "white noises" it is, in "death rays" it is, and in "letters to the Metro" it is.
People come die, people come old, something remains---'even after well burning of life, there is still ash', winding up by this sentence responding Lenard Cohen.
