Just Some Emotional Responses
It's a goddamn arms race!
“To the fans that held us down till everybody came around. Welcome. It's here.” Sugar, We're Going Down就爱上了。 每次电台播放《This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race》的时候,我都会仔细听有没有屏蔽掉高潮。

And I'll always be waiting in the back room.” “Don't pretend you ever forgot about me.” 不要假装忘了我 “I'm not a shoulder to cry on” 我不是一个可以哭泣时倚靠的肩膀 “The lies I weave are oh so intricate” 我编织的谎言如此之复杂 “Bullet proof loneliness” 足以防弹的寂寞 “If I woke up next to you” 如果我能在你身边醒来 “From a sour bottle baby girl With eyes the size of baby worlds” “And you're someone who knows someone who knows someone I once knew And I just want to be a part of this” 你知道一个知道我知道的人的人 我只是想参与一下 “A teenage vow in a parking lot "Till tonight do us part" I sing the blues and swallow them too” 在停车场写下一个少年的誓言——“直到今晚 我们分离” 我唱着忧郁的歌,一起吞下 “Sometimes we take chances, sometimes we take pills.” “Hallelujah” 弥赛亚 没想到听过的人如此至少。哀叹。 就把我的处女评,献给他们吧!Emo is rad!! Sing FOB's songs, until your lungs give out!!

仅限内部流传) 所以我也问心无愧~ The Chinese Invasion Tour 2010 [All Clean] China’s underground scene has been flourishing with a wide range of genres. The most successful underground record label Maybe Mars’ 2010 SXSW promotion compilation only presents a tip of the iceberg. Still, Maybe Mars label consists of most active and arguably the best of Chinese underground rock bands and this compilation definitely serves as an excellent introduction to China's underground rock scene. Most of Maybe Mars’ bands are based in Beijing and make post-punk/noise rock/experimental music such as Carsick Cars, Snapline and PK14. Some embrace this phenomenon and called it “No Beijing.” Experimental band White and improvisational folk singer Xiao He are also shining stars of the party. My personal favorite is the indefinable band, the Gar. Maybe Mars Records Carsick Cars - Zhong Nan Hai - ***** “Zhong Nan Hai” is a brand of cigarettes named after the Communist Party’s central headquarters. It is usually the last song of each Carsick Cars’ live show, which involves orgiastic moshing, “I can’t live without Zhongnanhai” choruses and cigarette-throwing. Incites reflection on China’s vacuous consumerism. Carsick Cars is known for their simple lyrics, anthemic style and as Sonic Youth’s Chinese successor. AV Okubo - AV Terminator - **** AV Okubo, based in Wuhan, is famous for their funny and energetic punk shows. They flirt with many different genres, including noise, dance rock and new wave. This song is from their debut album The Greed of Man; it has a dance beat that is hard to resist. It’s named after a porn-related virus and the English lyrics are caustic and funny. PK14 - Behind all Ruptures - ***1/2 Nanjing post-punk band PK14 (“the Public Kingdom for Teens”) are known for their poetic Chinese lyrics, mostly written by their lead singer, Haisong Yang. Formed in 1997, they are one of the few early underground bands who have survived through the years. Yang wrote this song for a friend who died years ago in a car crash. He realized that people only existed in others’ fragmented memories after their death, and even these fragments would be washed away by time. Snapline - Sustaining - **** Lurking bass with droning vocals. Beijing band Snapline has been around since 2005. The three members make post-punk/noise/synth pop band with their drum machine, keyboards and bass. Two of their members are also part of the Carsick Cars trio. While the two, Levis and Li Qing, write most of the music, Lead singer Chen Xi writes most of the lyrics. White – 47 rockets - **** Soothing. White is an experimental duo. Toured a lot in Europe with Einsturzende Neubauten, whose lead singer helped record their album White. Xiao He - MTV Play –***1/2 experimental / improv folk singer Xiao He (“Little River”) is truly idiosyncratic. Based in Beijing, he is very active and prolific. While he is now best known for his solo performances, he also collaborates with friends, including musicians from the Peking Opera Troupe. This song is from his improvised album Performance of Identity; it encapsulates his odd taste for Peking Opera and shrewd perception of Chinese rowdiness. PK14 - Wade the River - *** Bass forms another form of beat, violin “kicks in” towards the end. Lyrics are filled with angst; they are like verdicts directed at ambiguous subjects. AV Okubo – No.6 Space Ship. - ***** The title refers to China’s space ship rocketed in 2005 that caused a big commotion. No vocals. Spacey 80s electronica / punk is interlaced with propaganda sounds and count-downs. Carsick Cars – You Can Listen, You Can Talk - **** From their recent 2nd album, this song satirizes the government’s censorship efforts and criticizing the compliance of the general population. “we all live in the metal cage /just like the writer says / welcome back to the free nation” Snapline – Spinning - ***1/2 estrangement White – White - **** unique Xiao He – Record of Evaluation - ***1/2 Xiao He is downright folk in the sense that he appreciates the different dialects of China despite the homogenizing effort of the Chinese government. Here he jumps from one dialect to another, even using Chinglish at times. Snapline – She - ***1/2 exotic vocals, post-punk + electronica Bonus Tracks Ourself Beside Me – Sunday Girl - **** Beijing all-girl post-punk band. This eerie song starts with bicycle rings; while the bass is “bluntly” played, the “background music” is remarkable—guitar solos, gu zheng and flute are woven together really well. Definitely a song that grows on you. Gar – Love for Life - ***** The Gar is my personal favorite band. I hate to confine them to tags like “grunge” or “post-rock,” but these are the most common descriptions. Zhan Pan, the lead singer and lyricist, is one of the few that still composes and sings in Chinese. While most of The Gar’s songs are not dark or political, themes are often associated with absurdity, confusion, derision and anger. Most of their songs are allegorical and equivocal. Love for Life is one of the two songs where Zhan Pan bleeds his heart out. Starts slow; builds up towards a cathartic crash and burn. 24 Hours – Mr. Stevenson - ***1/2 – Band that started in Xi’ An 2007. simplistic. Recorded by Public Image Ltd. former drummer Mark Atkins. “Female version of Franz Ferdinand.”
