Album Title 专辑:All Things Must Pass Artist 艺人:George Harrison Date of Release 时间:1970.11.27 Edition 版本:E.U(30th Anniversary Edition) Aidiren Rating 星级:★★★★☆ Genre 流派:Rock Style 风格:Psychedelic/Songwrite/Singer/Album Rock Label 厂牌:Parlophone Publish 发行:EMI Serial Number 编号:7243 530474 2 9 Copyright 版权:EMI Collection No. 收藏:RYCD-EU080-0265A/B 谁都不曾想到,在The Beatles里并不算是大红花的George Harrison,会在这个伟大乐团解散后,凭借着1970年的这套《All Things Must Pass》双张专辑和首打单曲《My Sweet Lord》成为第一个创造个人专辑与单曲冠军的单飞成员。也许正是John Lennon和Paul McCartney在The Beatles时期实在太过高调,再加上一个Yoko Ono不停的掺合而让他们无法迅速找准单飞后的步点,所以也正好给了内敛、含蓄的George Harrison以一个咸鱼翻身的小小机遇。 其实George Harrison这一份薄名并不是从天而降的,就在人们都把The Beatles等同于《Yesterday》这样擅于制造商业神话的摇滚乐团的时候,其实更不能忽略的是他们于60年代后期在唱片概念、音乐技术和思想艺术等方面对未来摇滚乐的启迪作用,而在这个过程中,George Harrison就扮演着举足轻重的角色。虽然他不是《Norwegian Wood》、《Yellow Submarine》、《Come Together》等等一系列热门单曲的作者,但他却还是因为从印度西塔琴大师Ravi Shankar身上吸收到越来越多的灵气,而在The Beatles的后期逐步成为能够左右乐团音乐风格走向的重要成员。就算不提他在《Revolver》里前所未有的贡献和单曲《Taxman》的地位,单看那时期The Beatles越来越深遂、迷幻的音乐氛围,你就能明白深陷玄学无法自拨的George Harrison在乐队音乐的编排上起了多大的作用。当他不再是那个连扫弦都扫不利索的吉它手,当他已经开始把东方佛教的禅宗融入吉它并创造意境更为况远的音乐时,说The Beatles随着他一起进步,也不算是件过份的事情了。 有些东西有团队的束缚中是远远无法实现的,而《All Things Must Pass》正是George Harrison尽情施展抱负的最佳体现,这张专辑也和他最后的遗作《Brainwashed》堪称俯视这位一代伟大吉它手音乐和生命的两座顶峰。而这种比较玄乎的命运结局,不知George Harrison有机会仔细回味一下,是不是又该对释珈牟尼更倾情的敬仰多一分?! 《All Things Must Pass》是一张用现代音乐谱写的梦幻田园的赞美诗,整张专辑都萦绕着一种超越物质的理想,虽然比起John Lennon那种童话般的乌托帮,George Harrison的手法还要略显晦涩一点、复杂一点。不过比起The Beatles后期那些稍带有艺术痕迹的迷幻编排,此张专辑也在音乐上体现了George Harrison超物质的构思和想法。当然,禅宗里的虚无和来世毕竟不能制作出一张像样的音乐唱片,但“何处染尘埃”的佛理却也教会了George Harrison化繁就简的道理,因此相对纯净的民谣也就自然成了他那个时期音乐的主基调。大概也有点进庙先磕头的意思,George Harrison正好翻唱了一首现代民谣祖宗Bob Dylan同年发行的《New Morning》专辑里的《If Not For You》,并将两人合作的《I’d Have You Anytime》放在了专辑的开始。前者完全是一派洋洋得意的乡村画面,后者也更像是将仙未仙前的世俗情歌。 即使George Harrison已经开始超物质了,但他却还是为未来的流行乐坛留下了许多物质。在本张专辑里虽然没有让人耳晕目眩的吉它Solo和精心刻画的音效与Riff,但那些极简的吉它扫弦却在日后给了低调民谣、独立艺人,甚至后摇艺人们以无数的灵感。把《My Sweet Lord》里的吉它扫弦分离出来,你就会发现它对Echo&The Bunnymen的影响有多大;再把《Wah-Wah》里的吉它Riff拿出来,你又会发现咬着强生牙刷的Ben Kweller也提早十一年出世了;或者还可以把《Let It Down》做为当代Indie乐团的范本教材,当然更不能忘了那些用西塔琴神韵演绎的吉它Solo对后世许多Trip-Hop乐团的影响,而《Art of Dying》里的节拍更可以提前宣布了ABBA时代的到来…… 专辑还在精神方面诠释了印度佛教的某些教义,虽然肯定达不到“花自飘零水自流”这样的高度,但也交织出了西方进入后工业时代的颓废精神与东方佛教往生哲学契合的画卷。《My Sweet Lord》正是表现出这样一种矛盾对立,以及物质与精神、生命和死亡相碰撞时的出世理想,而这也是理解George Harrison这张专辑、或者说他整个音乐生涯的最关键所在。 与专辑相关的倒还有一个号外的八卦,如今已经成了一代吉它宗师的Eric Clapton也参与了此张专辑的吉它录制,成为这张专辑成功的另一个功臣,而当时好不容易盼来The Beatles解散而能有更多时间与好友George Harrison切磋的他,却不幸因为录制这张专辑而爱上了George Harrison的妻子Patti Boyd,在“朋友妻不可欺”和“爱可以超越一切”的矛盾中,最终他只能选择了用海洛因来解决这一切问题,把这一种宿命和此张专辑背后的宗教情节结合起来分析,倒真不由让人对“人定能胜天”这句话表示困惑了。 文/爱地人 21/11/05 aidiren@126.com

Album Title 专辑:Heathen Artist 艺人:David Bowie Date of Release 时间:2002.6.11 Aidiren Rating 星级:★★★ Genre 流派:Rock Style 风格:Prog-Rock/Art Rock Label 厂牌:Iso/Columbia Publish 发行:Sony Serial Number 编号:508222 Copyright 版权:Sony Collection No. 收藏:RYCD-EU038-0147 《Heathen》(异教徒)是大卫•鲍伊(David Bowie)在新千年发行的第一张录音室专辑,在我的印象中,1980年发行的《Scary Monsters》几乎就是他在艺术上的绝唱,虽然还有后来的《Let’s Dance》在商业上获得了巨大的成功,但事实上在整个八十年代和九十年代这位六七十年代的摇滚明星都是在平庸加昏庸中度过的。 《Heathen》是大卫•鲍伊在音乐上的一次回归,虽然我早就预料到他再也回不到三十年前,但告别那些比空虚更空虚的电子试验终究能让他显得更实在一点。也许是年纪的使然,岁数越大也就越宿命,而做为曾经是Virgin唱片摇钱树的他,在为其服务三十年之后居然被扫地出门的境遇无疑也让他更看淡了音乐以外的一些事情,而这次由他自创的音乐厂牌Iso来制作这张专辑,理所应当的也就更能找到一些朴素的气息。 专辑以《Sunday》开场,由著名电子音乐人莫比(Moby)所做的混音突出了音乐中沉郁幽远的深隧意境,合成器的背景音乐效更扩大了其戏剧效果,而大卫• 鲍伊的歌声沉稳中更隐露出一种沧桑;同样由法国电子组合“空气”(Air)所做混音的《A Better Future》所呈现地则是一幅欢快、小乐子般的图景,当然还有那不时闪动的摩登情怀,很有种飞到过去时光不愿回来的冲动;另一首《Slow Burn》里老而弥辣的吉它Solo则来自“谁人”乐队(The Who)的吉它手佩特•汤斯海德(Pete Townshend),不过两个老革命在新千年的重逢显然已经调动不起人们多大的兴趣,在他们无心无力的一弹一唱中,我甚至不忍心再多说一句坏话。 专辑中还有两首翻唱作品:《I’ve Been Waiting For You》是民谣摇滚的老兵内尔•杨(Neil Young)1969年发行的同名专辑中的一首经典作品,而客串吉它则是“幽灵一族”乐队(Foo Fighters)的成员戴维•格劳尔(Dave Grohl)(此人正是前Nirvana乐队的鼓手),开始的吉它旋律和音效恍若“莫奇芭”(Morcheeba)的《Tape Loop》,大卫•鲍伊的演唱则显得平稳和世故,淡淡的颓废中多少还隐现出许多的沧桑和无奈何;另一首“小妖精”(Pixies)的《Cactus》里出现了若隐若现的布鲁斯鼓点和吉它合弦,依稀让人想起七十年代那个把硬摇滚(Hard Rock)同样能玩得感性动人的大卫•鲍伊,不过更多的还是在类似模仿秀的复制中,让我们感受到他的年华老去。 当然了,谁都不会天真到再把2002年的大卫•鲍伊当成七十年代的那个摇滚明星来欣赏了,而他那些伎俩和手段也几乎在八、九十年代的二十年中用得一干二净了,虽然在《Heathen》里大卫•鲍伊还在试着请不同的裁缝来让他的衣柜变得更充实、更丰厚,但对于他来说真正重要的是永远是应该确认自己到底应该穿什么,因为有时候一件适合的衣服比一商场的琳琅满目要更为有意义。 当然,也可以用这样一种说法,那就是大卫•鲍伊真得已经不适合这个时代了。 文/爱地人 15/08/04 aidiren@yeah.net
