The Homing Beacon (also known as The Landing Beacon) is an acoustic song by Buckethead in tribute to Michael Jackson's death,[1] who was an early influence on Buckethead.[2] The song has no lyrics at all, just music, described as "slow, almost peaceful"[3] and has been called a "poignant guitar tribute to Michael Jackson".[4] The song has two different names[5] because when the song was uploaded on Buckethead's official website (www.Bucketheadland.com) for free download, the background became a drawing of two figures- supposedly both Michael Jackson in the same outfit he was wearing in the Smooth Criminal music video. One figure is doing the famous anti-gravity lean, while the other holds his arm raised above his head, with his finger pointing upwards, much like Michael Jackson.[citation needed] The said drawing read "THE HOMING BEACON" and below that line "A SONG FOR MICHAEL JACKSON" but the MP3 file is called "The Landing Beacon" with "A Song for Michael Jackson" as the album name.[6][7] The song was made available on July 6, 2009, the day before the Michael Jackson memorial service. === wikipedia
